The company was setup around eighty years ago by my grandad Roy (the R.L. in the name), later renamed to & son when my dad Peter started there, he is still hard at work there now! Me, Peter and young apprentice William are the current workforce, with my Grandma Barbara keeping us all in check and coordinating the accounts department.
We are the original powder coaters in Burton-on-Trent and obviously by far the best! A couple of the other places started through working for Roy.
We’re located near Branston, just one road (Burton Road/Branston) from the A38.
We’ve had many loyal customers some have been visiting for over 50 years, businesses and individuals alike. From Cumbria, to London, and all the local area. Many from Nottingham, Derby, Stoke, Ashbourne and all the villages etc.
We’ve done work for Rolls Royce, Bombardier, JCB, M.O.D, every small business I can think of in the area actually! Metal fabricators, restoration places, sports clubs, gyms, the college, even the hospital.
A new service we’re offering now is couriered parts. We have been doing it upon request for a while for some customers. If you have a batch of parts you can box them up and send it to us, in a way you would like them returned eg with enough space and packaging for items once they’re finished and need wrapping to protect them in transit. Send an order with a list of the parts, what finish you need and what you would like masking or any other points of consideration. We take care to mask the obvious as we are all into working with cars and bikes etc so know what’s needed. It may seem obvious to us all but we’ve seen other places powdercoat over bearing bores, brake surfaces, threads etc.
We come from an industrial orientated line of work so our large stock of colours cater to that. Lots of greys, blacks, blues, greens, reds in matt, satin and gloss. We do have some special finishes so feel free to ask the question. Some can get expensive like dead-matt or flourescent. Any metallic that requires a lacquer is essentially painting them twice.
People do come specifically for certain finishes that we have perfected. I have experimented recently with grey over crackle finish for Ferrari 512BB engine parts for example. We also have leatherette (or ripple) finishes. Gold, copper, silver, bronze. Crackle red and black. Clearcoat or Lacquer in matt or gloss. I’ve done this over bare metal items before to showcase the manufactured look of the parts.
